KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: Cláudia Álvares | ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon

Principal Investigator, in recent years, of several research projects, some of which in an international consortium, Cláudia Álvares was recently elected to integrate the Academia Europaea. Álvares has worked as an evaluator for the European Research Council, Cost, British Academy, ESF, and served as president of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) for the 2012-2016 term, having been editor of the collection Routledge Studies in European Communication Research and Education. Among her publications are Media in Europe: New Questions for Research and Policy (co-authored, 2014), Gendered Transformations: Theory and Practices on Gender and Media (co-authored, 2010), Humanism after Colonialism (2006). Her most recent peer-review articles have been published in Journalism Practice, Feminist Media Studies, Empedocles: European Journal for the Philosophy of Communication, European Journal of Communication, International Commmunication Gazette, Javnost – The Public and The International Journal of Iberian Studies. PhD from the University of London (2001), she is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology at ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa.
