KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: Rosa Cabecinhas – University of Minho

Rosa Cabecinhas is professor at the Department of Communication Sciences and researcher at the Center for Communication and Society Studies (CECS), University of Minho. Cabecinhas has developed interdisciplinary research and coordinated several national and international projects, combining areas of intercultural communication, social memory, social representations, social identities, migrations, and media. Author of “Preto e Branco: A Naturalização da Discriminação Racial” (2017, 2nd edition), co-author and co-editor of several works, including De Outro Género: Propostas Para a Promoção de um Jornalismo Mais Inclusivo (2014), Comunicação Intercultural: Perspectivas, Dilemas e Desafios (2017, 2ª edição) and (In)visibilidades: Imagem e Racismo (2020).

Rosa Cabecinhas is a member of the steering committee of the Doctoral Program in Cultural Studies, which she directed from 2015 to 2021. She was also Director of the Department of Communication Sciences, Director of the Master in Communication Sciences and Deputy Director of CECS. A founding member of SOPCOM, she participated in the creation of the Working Group on Intercultural Communication, acting as assistant coordinator. She is part of the team that founded the Permanent Seminar on Communication and Diversity, which she has coordinated since its foundation.
